Delete your account
Last updated: October 26, 2026
You can delete your Buildficient account at any time, from inside the app. You do not need to contact us. An admin can also delete the whole company.
How to delete your account
On the web: sign in, open Settings, stay on the Profile tab, and choose Delete my account. You will be asked to type your email address to confirm.
On iPhone or iPad: open the Settings tab and choose Delete Account at the bottom of the screen.
We ask you to be signed in because that is what proves the account is yours. A form that deleted an account on an emailed request would let someone else delete yours.
How to delete your company
If you are an admin, open Settings and choose Delete company. The company becomes read-only right away, and its data is permanently deleted 30 days later. An admin can cancel the deletion at any time before then.
What gets deleted
- When you delete your account, your name, email, phone and photo are removed right away, and you are signed out everywhere. Work you added stays with your company and shows as "Former member". Deleting your account does not delete the company. To delete the company's data, an admin chooses Delete company.
- When an admin deletes the company, it becomes read-only right away. 30 days later its data is permanently deleted.
- When a company cancels, the account becomes read-only and its data is kept for 90 days so it can come back. Then the company's data is permanently deleted.
Permanently deleted means projects, tasks, files and photos, contacts, invoices and estimates, messages, daily logs, voice transcripts and AI history, and the company's billing customer record at our payment processor. Encrypted backups roll off on their normal cycle of up to 35 days.
Before you delete
You can export timesheets, invoices, estimates and reports from the app at any time. To get a full copy of your company's data before it is deleted, email support@buildficient.com.
What we keep, and why
A small amount of information outlives the deletion, because the law requires it or because erasing it would harm someone else:
- Records of agreement to our terms, so we can show what was agreed and when.
- Opt-out (STOP) records, so we keep honoring them.
- Records we must keep by law, for example our own billing and tax records.
- Work you added to a company account, which stays with the company and shows as "Former member".
If you are the only admin
If other people use the account and you are its only admin, we will ask you to make someone else an admin before you delete your account. Otherwise your colleagues would lose the ability to manage billing, invite people, or change roles. If you want the company deleted instead, choose Delete company.
